An NRGetic search cloud
For data-geeks like me, Google Analytics provides a toy store of goodies to monitor blog traffic and other minutiae. I reviewed that data for 2007, and created a tag-cloud-like visualization of Google queries that brought users to this blog. I call this a search cloud:

Like a typical tag cloud, the font size shows the popularity of the search terms. For example, the search term “clynk” brought more Googlers to this blog than any other query. I have added color coding to show the average amount of time spent on this blog, with blue indicating a short visit, and red indicating a longer visit. For example, although not many users found this site by Googling “recent developments in tidal power”, those few that did spent more time visiting than the typical “clynk” Googler. It seems, unfortunately, that the visitors who land here most frequently don’t actually find much interesting to read.
