Wall•E delivers a compact message
If you haven’t seen the latest animated film from Disney/Pixar, Wall•E, you really should. And do take your children. Far more than an entertaining love story, Wall•E takes a satirical jab at our obsession with bloated consumption. How interesting it might have been if Disney had decided to forgo the usual merchandising tie-ins to make an even bolder statement about the stuff in which we find ourselves drowning. But I guess you need to be a lefty propagandist to think the way I do. Instead, just look at all the cute plasticy crap you can buy!
[sigh] Do go see it anyway.

I do think it would have been appropriate and meaningful for Disney to forgo the plastic crap, at least for this one movie. Or maybe make a little trash compacting Wall-E so people could compact the plastic crap they have leftover from other movies. And stack it in little plastic cubes. In their cubicles.

Excellent idea, Amy. That would have been great fun to see in the theater lobby.
