About this site
Welcome to Seacoast NRG. The mission of this site is to provide news, thoughtful analysis, and reasoned opinion on issues related to energy, alternative energy sources, the environment, and conservation.
In particular, I hope to present content that is relevant, and thought-provoking, to the residents of the New Hampshire-Maine Seacoast region. In time, perhaps blogging and dialogue will lead to education, collaboration, action, and positive change.
Although my aim is to inspire local action, the issues at hand are truly global. All are invited to comment. It is not necessary to have a direct interest in the region in order to make a positive contribution.
Again, welcome, and thanks for visiting.

What does NRG stand for? Not Really Green? Nobody Rebuts Gravity? New Radish Granolaheads (wasn’t that a 60s band?)
Looks like we overlap occasionally.

Dave,
All very good guesses, but NRG is meant to be a phontic play on “energy”, although I’d like for it to someday stand for “New Resources Group”.
Thanks for your comment. I am quite the geek myself, and enjoyed your site.

What would you do if you
Knew all of the things we knew
Would you stand up for truth
Or would you turn away too
And then what if you saw
All of the things thats wrong
Would you stand tall and strong
Or would you turn and walk away

I just read your blog on the validity of wood burning being carbon neutral. Although you seem a little more skeptical than myself I thought it was a well done, seams you looked at all the angles. I was thinking the same thing about the harvest rate exceeding replenishment but it may be possible to make it sustainable.
Was wondering what background and/or qualifications do you have in the area of energy?

Neal, thanks for your remarks. With regard to my background, I don’t have any formal training or qualifications in energy per se, but I do have an MS in engineering. For me, studying energy and environmental systems has been more of an avocation, rather than a profession.
